South Shore Path

South Shore Path

Welcome to Annalong’s South Shore Path

The South Shore Path is a beautiful walk from Annalong Harbour southwards to the Wrack Port (approx. 1.4km) with a landward backdrop of the stunning Mourne Mountains to complement your sea view and oodles of rock pools. Enjoy your walk!

History

Back in the 1980’s, LEDU (Local Enterprise Development Unit) & IDB in conjunction with the ACE scheme ran a project to create shore paths south & north of Annalong, providing paid work for some of our local unemployed [citation needed]. This was built on over the years following and during 2020/21 much work was done to improve and make both shore paths safer and more shoreline armouring. This was led by the ACDA (Annalong Community Development Association) chaired by Davy McCauley.

Short Video of the route

Disclaimer: This video footage was shot a few years ago and so does not include new buildings around the harbour area, and also some recent work on the South Shore Path (see History section above).
